FAQ
SO i have found a home that me and my husband want to buy. It is a bank owned home in my town in Oregon. It is 80,000. I know that it is definately a good investment, it is in a good area and has a lot of potential .I also have a ton of materials for renovating a home including a new door, new interior doors, new windows, new kitchen cabinets, bathtub, kitchen appliances, etc. My husband is in construction. So we have $20,000 for a down payment but my husband has terrible credit. We wont have any debt by the time we buy. I'm just wanting to know where do I start? I will probably need to find a cosigner, I know. But i want to put in an offer now so it doesnt receive snatched up. I dont have contingincy money right now because we are getting the money out of a trust that my husband will inherit in May. Where do I start? We know a realtor, should I start with him? This is for an 84 manufactured home in ORegon.

I am writing a story for my fiction class, and I really need opinions on what I have so far. Just general thoughts/suggestions. Thank you SO much!
Nothing gave Lance as much joy as shopping for a new appliance did. When he drove his new car into a rusted silver Food Lion cart drifting across an otherwise clear parking lot, he went straight for the toasters. When he tripped over a usually miniscule tree root and broke his big toe, he hobbled right to the blenders. The day after he almost drowned in the deep end of the suspiciously warm community pool, he made a beeline for the microwaves.
“So let me make sure I receive what you’re saying. This thing’s got 500 watts of power, right?” Lance asked.
“Yes, sir,” the employee said, “And it comes in four different colors.” She held up four swatches, beaming.
“Well…the avocado is pretty nice…”
Fifteen minutes later Lance left the store with a vile green microwave and a commission-glad worker waving goodbye.
He drove to his home slowly. When he got home, he carried his new purchase to the kitchen, carefully unwrapped it, and read the owner’s manual from cover to cover. He never skipped a page in the manual; vital information was tucked away on every page.

1) Living in a big attic with a makeshift kitchen i.e. fridge, microwave, griddle, blender, and tiny appliances, a half bathroom, with very limited access to a shared real kitchen, and semi limited access to a shared shower with a serious mold problem. It is most like an efficiency apartment. There is ample space, and a lot of liberty with what can be done to it. The shared aspects are shared with dirty rude people, but they don't have access to the upstairs at every, and they rarely are a bother except for the debilitating chain smoke that rises up through the forced air heat vents. I'm hoping this can be ameliorated with an air filter of some sort.
2) Living in a tiny room in a very controlling person's home with access to kitchen and bathroom, but not able to really cook whatever or whenever due to the anal person's preferences. There is little space for personal items (clothes, books, etc) and even these must be kept in a very specific way (not that we're messy, just that they're needlessly specific about how things must be done). It is like living in a boot camp of sorts, very stressful, but clean. Main problem is the person's interference with parenting methods, which is out of line.
By the way this is a family of four having to pick between two equally very affordable living arrangements while meticulously saving a year for a home. The kids are both very young, so they don't really have an opinion or preference about either. We work from home and homeschool, and I'm finishing up a degree as well, so we tend to be at home the majority of the time.
Please no negative responses, as we are trying to weigh our options and sacrifices in these difficult economic times. Which seems like the best situation?

Has anyone tried the Swivel Sweeper G2 that is advertised on the InfoMercials on TV. I need to clean up dog hair off the carpets and have tile and carpeted floors. Would like to clean the concrete steer as well.
It looks kinda whimpy but I'm not difficult on appliances any more as I'm now old enough to know how far to push stuff and when something is too much.
They are offering two sweepers for the cost of one but is the shipping and handling outrageous or reasonable?
I'm asking this here now b/c if I receive on the phone the sales person should convince me to buy it but I would like to hear REAL stories of how this appliance has worked for other Yahoo members. Will this thin fall apart in a month? Will the brushes receive filled with dog hair and cease working or is it easily cleanable in the brush area? Does it really run for 45 minutes on a charge and how long does it take to charge it back up?
I realize that I will be dumping the tray in the trash quite a bit, but my home is a mess b/c my vacuum is too big and wont receive into the tiny areas below the sink in the kitchen and along the cupboards and floor edges, and this sweeper looks great. But then the ad is SUPPOSED to make it look great. IS IT AS GREAT AS IT SOUNDS?
I have a VERY limited budget and if there is something better for the price I need to know that before I blow $40 on this and probably another $20 in shipping + tax (California).
Help Mr./Ms.Yahoo Wizards.

Comments made in the year 1955!
That's only 55 years ago!
'I'll tell you one thing, if things keep going the way they are, it's going to be impossible to buy a week's groceries for $10.00.
'Have you seen the new cars coming out next year? It won't be long before $1,000.00 will only buy a used one.
'If cigarettes keep going up in price, I'm going to quit. 20 cents a pack is ridiculous.
'Did you hear the post office is thinking about charging 7 cents just to mail a letter.
'If they lift the minimum wage to $1.00, nobody will be able to hire outside help at the store.
'When I first started driving, who would have thought gas would someday cost 25 cents a gallon. Guess we'd be better off leaving the car in the garage.
'I read the other day where some scientist thinks it's possible to put a man on the moon by the end of the century. They even have some fellows they call astronauts preparing for it down in Texas .
'Did you look where some baseball player just signed a contract for $50,000 a year just to play ball? It wouldn't surprise me if someday they'll be making more than the President.
'I never thought I'd look the day every our kitchen appliances would be electric. They are even making electric typewriters now.
'It's too bad things are so tough nowadays. I look where a few married women have to work to make ends meet.
'It won't be long before young couples are going to have to hire someone to watch their kids so they can both work.
'I'm afraid the Volkswagen car is going to open the door to a whole lot of foreign business.
'Thank goodness I won't live to look the day when the Government takes half our income in taxes. I sometimes wonder if we are electing the best people to government.
'The steer-in restaurant is convenient in nice weather, but I seriously doubt they will ever catch on.
'There is no sense going on short trips anymore for a weekend, it costs nearly $2.00 a night to stay in a hotel.
'No one can afford to be sick anymore, at $15.00 a day in the hospital, it's too wealthy for my blood.'
'If they think I'll pay 30 cents for a hair clip, forget it.'
Average single income in 1955 was approx. $3,600/yr
2009 was approx. $32,000 per year
I don't know about you, but it sounds to me like incomes haven't kept up with prices. Sounds like 1955 was a pretty good time to live, financially speaking.

I'm remodeling the kitchen and using natural maple cabinets. They are made of maple wood, have no stain, but just a urethane finish. Very light color, but popular. Would black or white appliances look better with these cabinets? I'm selling the home, so I don't want to buy expensive (stainless steel) appliances.

I know you cannot charge a tenant for normal wear and tear after they move out, but you can charge them for cleaning.
My previous tenant who was on my property for ONE YEAR did not wash the brand new carpets (they were brand new when he moved in) professionally. He just vacummed it.
200 dollars to have the furniture imprints and carpet cleaned professionally.
He did not wash the windows, they were cleaned professionally when he moved and in the contract he signed he agreed to give it to us professionally cleaned. Instead he power washed them from the outside and broke two of the window screens in the process. He denies breaking the window screens, but whatever. I'm not even charging him for that even though I should!! He broke them
$120 to wash the windows professionally
The three bathrooms were not cleaned professionally either. Water stains, hair, toilet nasty. It was wiped down, but not clean. Mirrors in the 3 bedrooms have hand marks every over them. The garage was not cleaned sweeped or anything...the kitchen fridge and stove are disgusting.
$250 to clean the bathroom and dust and clean mirrors professionally, kitchen appliances, garage area and the two patios that need to be sweeped.
He put holes in the walls every over the home...he covered the holes with the wrong color even though we stated IN A LETTER if you want the right color please contact us...he ignored us and painted it himself the wrong color so half the wall is one color and it looks ugly. So we had to paint every the walls he messed up.
BTW painting is only wear and tear if there are marks...these were HOLES put in by the tenant.
100 dollars to have the it painted and fix 3 broken doorknobs and a door that will not close.
Total comes close to $700 dollars. This tenant said he cannot pay more than $500 dollars. I'm not even charging him for the screens he broke when he power washed the windows.
I hate annoying and ungrateful tenants like this.
This is the last time I let someone with bad credit move into my place. I felt sorry for him b/c he lost his home.
Also he complains that he has no money but drives a mercedes benz and wears 300 dollar shoes. He claims he bought these things when he had money. WHATEVER!!!!

I'm working on a water filtration project using only kitchen items. It's sort of a contest at school and were graded on timing, minimum water loss, cleanliness, turbidity, pH, and ultra-violet light absorbency. The water used may be from a lake with additional additions made by my teacher and we have to filter 15 gallons. We are not allowed to use any appliances either, and charcoal coffee filters or any type of item used mainly for water filtering is not allowed.
Right now my plan is to filter big items using sieve bowls, medium items with cloth towels, and tiny particles using burnt toast, rice, or oregano and coffee filters. Then I may add bleach or vinegar with baking soda to kill bacteria while keeping the pH neutral. I heard silk is good too but im not sure.
If anyone has any great ideas I would adore to hear them. Also I'm not sure if some of my methods over will work, so any input would be helpful.
My goal is to filter below 10 minutes while still having pretty clean water. I also want to keep my water loss minimal.

One day, I was walking to the park, and on my way I saw a bird, a plane, and a shoe. Clearly, something had to be done. I stood there thinking, but then, I realized I should take action before it’s too tardy. So, I picked up the plane, and put it in my pocket. Now, every that was left, was the bird and the shoe. I decided to toss the shoe into the trash and let the bird fly away. I continued walking to the park. Today was a odd day, and I wondered if it could even receive stranger. I didn’t think so; I was wrong. I continued walking for 20 feet. I stopped. I saw the following: a toaster walking, an oven eating, and a microwave reading. I wondered to whom every these kitchen appliances belonged. Then, I remembered that the toaster and oven were my brother’s. Just last week, he told me he bought a toaster that could walk and an oven that could eat. Now, I had to figure out who owned the microwave. It was during that minute, that my pal’s dog ran over, took the reading microwave, and scurried away. I couldn’t believe what happened that day, on my way to the park. So, I turned around and went home.

I painted three of my walls a dark tan color and one wall a chocolate color. The contrast is very nice. I have new white cabinets and white appliances. I am about to put down plain white tiles on the floor. I could use some specific suggestions on how to decorate the tops of my cabinets. I have about 2 to 2 1/2 feet between the top of the cabinet and the ceiling. In my old decor, I had greenery and birdhouse up there but I had a brighter kitchen. Now its a bit more sophisticated looking so I would like some suggestions on how to decorate. I also need to decorate my chocolate wall. Thanks for suggestions.

Ok here is a word for word diagram of whats going on in my kitchen...your help would be greatly appreciated:
1) I have 2 outlets in my entire kitchen; 1 outlet is a non GFI outlet and is a single outlet; the other outlet is a GFI outlet and it is a double outlet, both of these outlets are at the counter level
2) The single non GFI outlet is 12 inches away from the kitchen sink; it also is the outlet that is used for the refrigerator
3)The GFI double outlet is 2 and 1/2 feet away from the sink
4) The GFI double outlet is on a 6 ft countertop that is not interrupted by a sink or stove
5) The non GFI outlet is on a 1 1/2 foot counter top; then the sink is next to that followed by the stove, then the double GFI outlet followed by 6 feet of counter space.
6) So this is my kitchen: Refrigerator; then 1 1/2 foot counter; (with single non GFI plug); then sink; then stove (gas); then 6 ft counter (with double GFI outlet).
Please help me is this within NEC code?? If it helps I live in Washington, DC they have adopted the national electric code this is also an apartment that I am currently a renter in.
There used to be a double GFI outlet where the single non GFI outlet is now, but they removed it and replaced it with the single non GFI outlet. This has greatly inconvienced me because I do not have enough outlets for my tiny appliances and this may be an unsafe arrangement. Thank you for your help.

We have 2 female rabbits; both 2 year old Mini Lops. For every of their lives they have lived in the shed at the bottom of the garden, (and I actually mean IN the shed, about 5/6ths of it is secured off for them!) attached to a run that covers part of our garden, so they can run about inside and out as they please. Because of this though they haven't been getting much attention; trekking down the garden to stand in a freezing shed isn't really very high on anyone's priority list, so they only really look us when we're feeding them. This though has trapped us in a vicious circle; they have become a LOT less untame because of this lack of attention, and because they detest someone even touching them we don't really like to go close them every the time.
I'm really sick of this and want the rabbits to become part of the family; after reading a magazine on rabbit keeping I've really begun to think about the idea of keeping rabbits in the home. We would plan to put them in an insulated hutch, (maybe just in the garage,) when we're asleep and when everyone's out, (no one really likes the idea of the rabbits having the run of the home unsupervised!) And the relax of the time letting them run where they please. Of course I have a few queries and problems that I would like help with before we let them anywhere close our home.
1) At the moment, our rabbits are not spayed; I am curious to whether spaying them would increase their behaviour at every; at the moment they battle sometimes, and I'm worried one of them will seriously receive hurt - would spaying make them at every less prone to this? Also, would it make them easier to train?
2) How difficult is it to receive rabbits toilet trained, and how would you go about this? How long would it take? Having rabbits pellets around the home, especially as we have a lot of carpet is something we are NOT prepared to deal with.
3) Pellet food would be easy to give to them as they would just have it in a bowl in the kitchen in the mornings and evenings, but is it necessary for home rabbits to have hay as well? At the moment they have generous helpings of hay AND grass, and I'm curious on how to supply this to them indoors without having it dragged throughout the home - can anyone who owns home rabbits explain how they do this please?
4) Chewing problems; can rabbits be trained to not chew, or is it a natural instinct to just chew everything they look; eg. furniture? We want to be able to leave them in a room by themselves without coming back to it to look everything in shreds. Would giving them something to play with/chew completely cease this problem or only delay it? Also, we have a lot of electric appliances around the home, so how would we protect the rabbits from wires?
If you've gotten this far, THANKYOU for reading, as I would really like to receive some answers - we would really like our rabbits to live in our home, but not at their expense - or ours!

If we find a really cheap beat-up home, a fixer-upper, can the costs for fixing it up be included in a mortgage?
Say we receive pre-approved for $150,000 but we find a home that's only $50,000 but it's missing major kitchen appliances like a fridge and a stove, possibly missing the washer/dryer, and even toilet/shower, could those major necessities of a home that have to be purchased be included in the mortgage?
What about costs for an addition on the home? or smaller fixes like flooring or cosmetic things?
We don't have much money saved, but there are so many cheap HUD/REO homes available that would cost us less than what we're paying in rent. Most of them are in pretty bad shape, usually stripped by the previous owners, with holes everywhere.
Can we take the entire $150,000 that we are pre-approved for and fix up the home with it and then pay the monthly mortgage? Or, do they only give you the loan amount for the exact purchase price of the home and nothing else?
Thanks, Mr. Fix It, what if the home is worth a lot more than it's going for, being that the bank is only interested in receiving the amount of cash that was left over from the previous owners in these HUD/REO homes, then would a lender be willing to at least lend what the home is actually worth? Say the home is being sold by the bank for $50,000 but it is actually worth $80,000, would a lender let us take out an $80,000 mortgage in order to use $30,000 to fix it up?

I just bought a brilliant fridge freezer but wasn't able to fit it through the kitchen door by a few milimeters. I could leave it in the corridor facing the kitchen door however Im wondering if that would look silly?
Its a really nice appliance far better then the smaller stuff I saw. Anyway would it look silly and should i receive something else or do you think it will be ok to arrange it like this.
Thanks
Well i cant receive it through the kitchen door however my corriodor is empty so its not causing any problems there. My questions is will it seem silly being there as people will arrive into the home and look it on the side and walk passed it. It wont actually block traffic but people will look it.

I am remodeling a 5' x 7' bathroom and I want to put down sheet vinyl on the floor. Do I really have to worry about the quality/thickness of it? I mean it's not like I'll be moving appliances around on it like a kitchen. I will also have bath rugs over it. The sub floor is every new and smooth. I found some pre rolled vinyl (half the price) from a bargain outlet store and my Dad says I shouldn't use it. One one person in the home too. Thoughts? Thanks!
Well I bought a 9 x 12 sheet for $50 and can resell some of that. From Home Depot and a carpet store it would be about $125!

I live in a townhouse with two other girls. When we moved in we were each supposed to buy certain items for the home so no one ended up paying a lot more than the others. It turned out that I bought nearly everything because the others "didn't have the money". One roommate bought literally nothing for the home, while the other brought only an old used tv and a daybed instead of a sofa. I had to buy every the other furniture, kitchen appliances and cleaning supplies. Since then I've bought the majority of supplies for the home (toilet paper, dish soap, sponges...)
My roommates feel that since I bought them for "the home" that they aren't MINE, they're OURS. I, on the other hand, feel that though I did buy them for every of us to use they are still MY things. I had planned on taking everything I bought with me when I move out at the end of the summer but, because they look at the things I bought as ours, they treat them with little respect. They've ruined every my frying pans and baking sheets, broken countless dishes and killed the microwave and clothes dryer.
What are my options here? The two of them tend to take sides against me whenever I bring this issue up. I've tried to explain to them that I really can't afford to keep replacing things, but they don't seem to care. I can't take everything I've bought and store it in my room because, since I've bought so much, I just don't have the space for it here. If I try to force them to replace the things they've broken they're going to take them when we finally part ways so I'll still have to buy new ones. How can I explain to them that it is NOT ok to treat the things that I spent money on as if they're disposable?

Kitchen island and perimeter are lapidus granite, dark brown cabinets, steel appliances, hardwood floor. Red pendant lighting over island and sink. Also, the kitchen has 2 big corner windows.
What color should the granite sink be?
Kitchen is vaulted and the wall color is SW latte.
thanks to every for sharing your views. Well, we dicided to go with the ivory. An added point that helped us decide was we have difficult water and are pretty sure the white build up will show more on a dark color!
Once again...THANKS! :)

We are looking for advise regarding what type / color granite will go well with the significant number of colors and materials already in our kitchen... Please help!
We have white cabinets, stainless steel appliances, double wall ovens set in red brick (back splash is also red brick). Backsplash is brick over the cooktop and will likely be white subway tiles everywhere else. Walls are wood paneling which "we" are planning on painting a light green. Painting the walls white to minimize the colors is also an option. Floors are wood.
We are toying with the idea of grey granite granite countertops, something simple with minimal paterns / variations. We appreciate any recommendations, thoughts or additional questions.
This is our first post!
Thanks every.

Its not the whole of the first chapter. I like my writing to flow, and not carry on about the same surrounding for a whole page. What do you think?
Running up the porch of our new family home, I circled the new stainless steal appliances and fake marbled floors of our kitchen. A new home, a delight in my honer. My old home was haunted and after years of complaining to my harris mom, she finally gave in and bought a new home. It was also a downfall of mortgage payments. So we sold our modern home to settle for this place. It was cheap, and not to far from family and friends.
The town was three times smaller then our previous starvation of boredom; but it's a nice silent community. We already met a few people while stopping at the only restaurant in town. Every one carried a grin followed by a welcoming greeting. I really miss that fat bold man out the front of the restaurant, checking out my cleavage.
I ran up stairs to my new freshly painted bed room. A sea of yellow; my favourite colour. The room was larger then my old one. Furniture was kindly left from the lady who once walked these halls. I heard she died peacefully in a hospital bed. She won't be haunting these walls.
I raced over to the full length mirror placed gently over one of the four encloses.
A gift from the dead. I thought as I smiled gracefully to my self and wiping of a clutter of dust from the glass with my sleeve.
A plane glad Jane you wonder? Wrong; I was miserable, and this is how it really happened.
Mope-ing up the three wooden stairs of our shit hole of a home. Groaning new swear words every step I took. We couldn't afford any thing new. Every thing was old - our fridge had no seal, our toaster only cooked one slice and our oven devoured in rust. Thats our kitchen, moving on.
My bed room. A fucking yellow colour. What was that old bag thinking? Tomorrow I will chuck every piece of useless furniture out to the curb - including that mirror leaning against one of the yellow coated walls.
Slumping down on to my tardy fathers recliner, I watched as my mom madly sorted through pots and pans. She hissed a swear here and there until she found our spaghetti bowl. I guess I know whats for dinner. My sister Georgina sat down on our two piece blossom sofa. She stared at me with a grin on her thin orange lips, becuase she knows this annoys me. But at this time I already felt a red heat of anger. I sorted through my iPod for various new aged grooves until I found the perfect mix of noisy base. The kitchen door was wide open, the wind making noisy random thuds. A icy sensation made my hairs stand up like thin needles.

I bought a tiny kitchen appliance in China and thought I could use it in America with a 110-220v power adapter, but then I noticed the appliance is 800 watts. Can I still use it with a typical travel power adapter or do I need to buy a big (and expensive) converter box?
Thanks for the answers so far. I'm not sure i understand Cisco's and Stock's though.
Cisco: The voltage at my home is 110, but the appliance takes 220. I have a power adapter, but I'm concerned about the high wattage. Should I be?
Stock: What do you mean that I can switch it? Switch what?
Thanks a lot for clarifying. I appreciate the help.

Black carpet with huge flowers-green, pink, blues, yellows. Wanted to paint wall a greenish tone, but keep getting drawn to pinks and mauves. Is it ok to use those colors in a kitchen? Hello!
I am going to Mackinac Island this summer, to work at the Grand.
Does anyone know on what he Employee housing is like? Yes, I've been to the website, they do not give me good information. I know that no Tv's, Internet, phones, and kitchen appliances (even Microwaves) aren't in the housing, but I read that there is a separate tiny building right next to it where you do your laundry and there is a tv, and such?
Can anyone tell me about the housing, or their experiences? Also, if you know, how much it would be to receive Internet there?
I will be working as a Kitchen Helper.

Hi,
I have just had a new boiler and kitchen fitted.
During this the boiler engineer found a pin hole gas leak from a pipe behind a cupboard. He asked if i had smelt gas....i had reported a silly odor to my landlord ( sanctuary housing association ) a number of years ago, but was told it was a drain!!
I have been sick for the whole time i have lived in this property....its every documented through my doctors. I have clearly been misdiagnosed as i have been on anti depressants for the past 4 years...due to my constant NAUSEA!
Within a month of living here i was sick and have been ever since
One of my ex girlfriends got migraines when she stayed over mine...everytime
My cat has bouts of throwing up randomly
I reported a foul odor in the kitchen in Oct 2005....this odor was put down to a waste pipe but it turns out was a gas leak the whole time!!!
I have been reading the symptoms to natural gas and methy mercaptan exposure ( the odor added to gas )...these seem to be the exact symptoms i have had!!
I dont know where to go from here?? If i have infact been slowly poisoned for 4 years surely someone is responsible?
I have requested my medical history and confirmed the works order put out to rectify " the foul odor " reported in 2005. I am now in the process of getting a report from the gas engineer who changed the leaking pipe last week.
Who is responsible??? the landlord??? or my doctor??? or both???
As a tenant of a housing association my gas appliances are tested every year by a Gas Safe engineer.....this leaking pipe was never found until now because it was behind a unit.
The odor in my flat has gone since the pipe has been replaced
I could really do with some help on this matter as ive never heard of anyone poisoned by gas....not carbon monoxide.
It is widely reported...as i have been researching online, but rarely diagnosed,
I am worried that 4 years of exposure to such toxic chemicals could have done me some serious long term damage.
( methane gas and methyl mercaptan ( the odor added ) exposure )
Thanks for reading
Nausea is directly related to natural gas poisoning. Please take the time to read up before making statements that are not true :)
The gas leak was in my kitchen as mentioned, i complained of a foul odor....for this reason my kitchen window was always on vent and theres an extractor fan in the kitchen too.
I can only assume that this vented some of the gas thus making an explosion not possible :)

I sold a kitchen appliance on craigslist and now 2 days later i receive an email saying "something not working right you told me it was working i want my money back!".....Is it fair to give the money back when they knew what they were buying wasn't brand new? And the appliance has been working fine while in my home the whole time? Can someone please give me some advice thanks!
The thing that is killing me is I turned it on and plugged it in when they came to buy it! and nothinggg was wrong with it! I am just a person selling things we dont use anymore. I'm not some crazy ebay seller or someone trying to make a profit online. I was just selling things sitting in our garage we dont use anymore!

Suzie was born inside our home and has never in her life used the litter box. We tried to train her, regardless of every our tactics and the tips we received from vets and advice websites, nothing ever worked. She's 4 years old, has went to the vet and got a clear bill of health, she's been spayed, but she constantly urinates and poops every over the living room. She likes to go outside, and we let her, but she will NOT do her business outside. She'll scratch at the door to arrive in and once she does, she soils the living room carpet and then wants to go back outside to play some more. We tried leaving her outside, but she'll hold it in until she's sick if we don't just let her in and clean up after she's done.
The horrible thing of the matter is that most of our other cats are following in her pawprints and the home is becoming nearly uninhabitable. The difference is that the other cats aren't inhibited by which room they go in though. From bedrooms, to dirty laundry, kitchen counters, appliances, the dining room table. They'll urinate EVERYWHERE, but they WILL poop in the litter box, which is one up on Suzie.
We adore our cats and the majority are already fixed and those that aren't are going to be very soon. We keep the litter boxes clean and it's odd how they'll poop in the litter box but urinate everywhere else.
So I need two pieces of advice.
1- What can I do to cease them from soiling the carpets, counters, and pretty much everywhere. They're not normal, they LIKE the odor of oranges and lemons, even vinegar!, so those kinds of deterrents don't work O_O...
2- What can I do to receive rid of the odor. I know apple cider vinegar is great for clothes, sheets, and such, but the carpet is so rancid and we really can't afford nor do we have the man power to tug it up or change it. I'm DESPERATE on getting rid of the odor and odors. It's stifling!
About us:
We live in the country with numerous indoor cats. My dad is a stroke patient and we recently lost our beloved dog Jack. We're every attached to these cats and can't bare to toss them away. Yes money is tight at the moment, but we're getting by and you can't replace adore. There are dangerous animals that lurk in the woods around our home at night, so we don't allow any of them to stay outside unless it's during the day and we're home, in which case they always stay around the back patio anyway. I really don't know what to do anymore to receive them trained and cease making our home to unpleasant. Most people who used to visit has even stopped coming because of the odor that just won't go away.
I completely appreciate any and every advice that can help make our home a home again and put our felines back to being behaved pets.

I will be making an offer on a home that comes with no appliances. I would like every new appliances but can't afford to buy a whole kitchen's worth. Would it be better to ask for an allowance, negotiate the price, or be agressive and do both. It's already a pretty competitively priced home.
